Mangstor Showcases Its NX6325 & Earns IOVP Certification

by Adam Armstrong

Today at VMworld Europe 2016 in Barcelona, Mangstor, Inc. showcased its NX6325 storage array with Non-Volatile Memory express (NVMe) over RDMA networks. We previously reviewed the NX6325 over fabrics here and found it to be fastest shared storage solutions we had tested. Mangstor also announced that its MX-Series NVMe-based SSDs earned certification on VMware vSphere 6.0.

As we stated in our review, the Mangstor NX6325 NVMe Over Fabrics (NVMf) shared storage array is one of the first commercially available systems that enables very fast NVMe storage to be taken out of the application servers and put into a box where it can be leveraged by an entire cluster of servers. The NX6325 uses a 2U HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9. The array supports multiple ports of industry standard Ethernet and InfiniBand interconnect speeds up to 100Gb/s.

Also announced today, Mangstor validated its ESX driver stack on MX6300 2.7TB and 5.4TB capacity models through the VMware I/O Vendor Partner (IOVP) Program that enables vendor device drivers to be released independently of VMware product releases. Mangstor’s SSDs are certified by VMware to operate properly in vSphere 6.0 environments. Three popular use cases for these high-performance SSDs are:

  • A Virtual Machine File System (VMFS) datastore enabling virtual machines (VMs) to be placed on top for better throughput
  • A pass-through device to VMs, specific Read/Write intensive applications can be accelerated in vSphere 6.0 environments
  • Users can virtualize storage connections so that each VM has independent access to its own protected storage

Mangstor will have both its NX6325 and its MX6300 SSDs on display in its stand, #E617, at Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain.
