Marvell Enables NVMe-oF For VMware vSphere 7

Today Marvell announced the enablement of NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF) for VMware vSphere 7.0. This is done through the company’s QLogic Fibre Channel and FastLinQ Ethernet adapter solutions. The integration of the above offering brings low latency, high-performance flash int vSphere as its need for capacity and bandwidth grow.

Data continues to grow with no end in sight. Along with the need to have quick access to the data is growing right along with the overall capacity. Data centers have to deal with the needs listed as well as increasing complexity and power consumption. NVMe and NVMe-oF technology can help int the capacity and performance arenas. VMware vSphere aims to help in the complexity parts of the equation. Marvell looks to combine the two with its technology.

With the support of NVMe/RDMA over both RoCEv2 and iWARP protocols, Marvell’s FastLinQ 41000 and 45000 Series Ethernet Adapters enables VMware vSphere 7.0 customers to leverage the above protocols while at the same time future-proofing for possible things like NVMe over TCP. Marvell has had a vision of end-to-end Ethernet storage, specifically the innovative Ethernet Bunch of Flash (EBOF) architecture for optimal disaggregated high-performance flash storage. Today’s announcement sees this vision accelerate with the support of VMware vSphere 7.0.

Availability

Marvell FastLinQ 41000/45000 Series NICs, QLogic 269X and 2700 Series 16/32G FC HBAs are available now as is the latest version of VMware vSphere.
