Morro Data Releases CacheDrive R1100

Today Morro Data announced its first rackmount cache file server, CacheDrive R1100. Advancing its CloudNAS Enterprise solution, the CacheDrive R1100 is stated to allow SMBs with hundreds of users to scale cloud capacity, manage files across multiple offices, and collaborate on large file formats without disrupting workflow. Combining the two technologies will offer a 3-in-1 global file services solution for “unlimited” file storage, multiple office sync, and disaster recovery.


Today Morro Data announced its first rackmount cache file server, CacheDrive R1100. Advancing its CloudNAS Enterprise solution, the CacheDrive R1100 is stated to allow SMBs with hundreds of users to scale cloud capacity, manage files across multiple offices, and collaborate on large file formats without disrupting workflow. Combining the two technologies will offer a 3-in-1 global file services solution for “unlimited” file storage, multiple office sync, and disaster recovery.

From a physical standpoint, the R1100 is a 1U rackmount unit with 16TB of cache drive capacity. Its small footprint allows it to easily slide in a rack to upgrade workflow. Part of upgrading the workflow comes form its Intel Xeon Quad Core processor, ECC memory, enterprise hard disk drives, and 10GbE networking. The R1100 also supports Microsoft Active Directory.

Several companies are transitioning to cloud or planning to do so. The ones that are hesitating worry about aspects such as the disruption of workflow. Morro Data states that its new CacheDrive R1100 combined with its CloudNAS (including support for Microsoft Active Directory) will allow companies to implement a massive cloud footprint, while delivering large files to-and-from the cloud at local network speeds.
