Data Dynamics To Acquire Infintus

Data Dynamics announced its intent to acquire Infintus Innovations Pvt. Ltd. Data Dynamics is looking to acquire the company’s automated data analytics that analyzes unstructured data using AI. Through the combined technology Data Dynamics states it will be able offer:

  • Data Dynamics prioritizes data visibility, compliance, and governance with the acquisition of Infintus Innovations
  • M&A strengthens Data Dynamics' value offerings by adding depth and granularity to its data analytics capabilities  
  • To drive innovation and growth within the customer's data environment, Data Dynamics manages data life cycle from understanding your data to data location optimization

Seagate Reports 1Q20 Earnings

Seagate reported its first quarter earnings for its fiscal year 2020. The company is reporting revenue of $2.58 billion, GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.74; non-GAAP diluted EPS of $1.03, cash flow from operations of $456 million, and free cash flow of $309 million. Seagate repurchased 9.2 million shares of its stock for $450 million and raised its quarterly dividend to $0.65 per share payable on January 8, 2020.

OpenStack Builds Momentum In Greater China

OpenStack Foundation had its second Open Infrastructure Summit, this time in Shanghai, China. The main take always form the show was the OpenStack is gaining momentum in greater China with the OpenStack market projected to grow 36% in the next four years. This represents about one-third of a $7.7 billion USD global market in 2023 according to the 451 Research Market Monitor report published in September 2019.

Rackspace Acquires Onica

Rackspace has agreed to acquire the cloud-native consulting and managed services company and AWS Premier Consulting Partner and Managed Service Provider, Onica. The acquisition includes: 

  • The acquisition enhances Rackspace’s portfolio with services like serverless, containers, IoT, ML, AI, cloud-native app development and cost optimization expertise.
  • It will also enhance and extend Rackspace’s offering to customers who are quickly maturing on AWS and seeking high-end professional services.
  • Onica has more than 500 AWS certifications, increasing Rackspace’s AWS certifications by 45%
  • The transaction is expected to close in Q4 of 2019. After closing, Onica will operate as a separate business unit within Rackspace’s Americas sales organization.

Diamanti Closes Series C Round

Diamanti announced that it closed a Series C round of founding raising an additional $35 million. The round was lead by current investors CRV, Goldman Sachs, GSR Ventures, Northgate Capital and Threshold Ventures (formerly DFJ Venture). Diamanti intends to use the funding for ramping up global go-to-market initiatives, along with increased investment in engineering resources to drive its hybrid cloud roadmap, as well as new software, SaaS, and hardware solutions.

Quantum Reports 2Q20 Earnings

Quantum Corporation reported its financial results for its second fiscal quarter of 2020. The company saw a revenue of 105.8 million (an increase of 18%). The company saw a gross margin of 41.1% and its net income was up to $5.1 million.

Schneider Electric Partners With Scale Computing

Schneider Electric partnered with Scale Computing to deliver the Scale Computing HC3 Edge for retail solution in Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Micro Data Centers. Benefits include:

  • Fast to deploy: Retailers can quickly connect their web browsers to remote systems and manage storage and virtual machines from a single management interface, allowing updates to be handled remotely and ensuring timely deployment.
  • Added security: Retailers can be assured their applications are secure with device-level cyber security with ultra-secure enclosure options and remote security monitoring and control.
  • Standardization: Standardized, pre-integrated and pre-validated architectures ensure the deployment is fast and cost-effective. 
  • Cost-effective: The HC3 Edge software does not include additional licensing costs, plus backup and recovery are also included.

NVIDIA Announces World’s Smallest Supercomputer For AI

NVIDIA announced a supercomputer for AI and the Edge that is roughly the size of a credit card, the Jetson Xavier NX. This tiny supercomputer is said to deliver up to 21TOPS while only consuming 10 watts of power. Jetson Xavier NX module specifications:

  • GPU: NVIDIA Volta with 384 NVIDIA CUDA cores and 48 Tensor Cores, plus 2x NVDLA
  • CPU: 6-core Carmel Arm 64-bit CPU, 6MB L2 + 4MB L3
  • Video: 2x 4K30 Encode and 2x 4K60 Decode
  • Camera: Up to six CSI cameras (36 via virtual channels); 12 lanes (3×4 or 6×2) MIPI CSI-2
  • Memory: 8GB 128-bit LPDDR4x; 51.2GB/second

Alluxio Announces Integrations With AWS & GCP

Alluxio announced new integrations with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • New Offerings on Amazon Web Service
    • Alluxio Enterprise Edition v2.1.0 is now available via the Amazon AWS Marketplace. This AMI is available via a pay as you go model as well as an annual subscription.
    • Alluxio Cloud Formation Templates are available which greatly simplifies Alluxio cluster creation for users. After selecting a few configurations, a cluster of any size can be brought up in minutes.
    • Tighter Alluxio integration with AWS EMR service includes options to backup state and enable stateful EMR clusters and brings up Alluxio on the EMR cluster as a part of provisioning step.
  • New Offering on Google Cloud
    • Alluxio integration with Google Cloud Dataproc allows users to bring up Alluxio within the Google Dataproc cluster with a single command.
