Nimbus Data Systems has announced eBay has implemented more than 100TB of its S-class flash memory to power its VMWare server infrastructure.
eBay is deployed on the Nimbus Sustainable Storage platform with iSCSI connectivity over 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Nimbus says the flash-based storage solution consumes 78% less energy and takes 50% less rack space than a traditional hard disk-based solution. No part of the Nimbus system is hybrid – that is, it is entirely composed of flash memory.
