Today Dell EMC announced that it will be leveraging Storage Class Memory (SCM) as true persistent storage. The Dell EMC PowerMax product will now ship with dual port Intel Optane drives. To further boost performance, PowerMax now supports NVMeoF, with 32Gb NVMeoF for Fibre channel connectivity.

Today Cisco announced new Storage Area Networking (SAN) Technology innovations. The new innovations focus on getting storage networking ready for 64G, analytics for SAN NVMe/FC, and new DevOps innovations. These new innovations are aimed at protecting organizations investment in next generation SAN giving them more bandwidth and visibility.

AWS announced the largest price reduction in AWS Cloud’s history. The price reduction is specifically for customers leveraging Infrequent Access (IA) with Lifecycle Management with Amazon Elastic File System (EFS). With the new price reduction customers can utilize the technology for as little as $0.08/month.

Today Scale Computing and Acronis announced a partnership for OEMs that will offer Acronis Backup through Scale Computing channels. Today Commvault announced its first-ever acquisition. Commvault has entered a definitive agreement to acquire the software-defined storage (SDS) company, Hedvig. The deal is set to be for around $225 million and will include employee retention.
