SUSE has announced the latest release of its software-defined storage solution, SUSE Enterprise Storage 6. Powered by Ceph technology (an open-source software designed to facilitate highly scalable object, block and file-based storage under one whole system), the newest release helps IT organizations adapt to changing business demands, such as ever-growing data sets.

Today Reduxio announced that they were beginning customer evaluations of their Magellan Cloud Data Platform and plan for it to be generally available in the fall of 2019. Reduxio was founded six years ago in 2013 and since then has focused on providing data management and protection services. 

Recently, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) rolled out the latest firmware update to its Integrated Lights-Out Management (iLO) 4, version 2.70. While the firmware update adds several enhancements, the one generating the most buzz is HTML5 support for Remote Console. The update supports several Gen9 and Gen8 servers in HPE’s ProLiant and Synergy lines.

Today Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced that it has entered a definitive agreement to acquire the global supercomputer company, Cray Inc. This will broaden HPE’s ability to tackle challenges brought up by data-intensive applications, AI, and analysis. The value of the transaction is thought to be roughly $1.3 billion or $35/share of Cray in cash. 

Today at Atos Technology Days, Atos launched what it calls the world’s highest performing edge computing server, the BullSequana Edge. The BullSequana brings all of its performance to manage data on the edge, specifically to securely manage IoT. The new server is aimed at industries such as manufacturing 4.0, autonomous vehicles, healthcare, and retail/airport security.

Today IGEL announced the expansion of its Universal Desktop endpoint solutions with the release of the IGEL UD2. The new UD2 is compact and said to be fast, cost-effective, and secure while it meets current and future needs of work. The new solution is powered by IGEL OS11 and verified with IGEL Workspace Edition. 

QNAP has released QNAP Enterprise Storage (QES) version 2.1.0 today, an operating system that brings cost-effective, flash-optimized storage technology for enterprise data centers and VDI environments. This update includes a slate of handy new features including QNAP’s exclusive Write Coalescing algorithm to optimize all-flash performance in ZFS, software-defined SSD optimization, inline compaction, iSER support, and

Cisco reported its second quarter earnings for its fiscal 2019, which ended on April 27, 2019. Overall the numbers are looking pretty good. The stock has shown a slow, but steady increase.
