Samsung has updated their EcoGreen HDD line with the F3EG. The new 3.5" desktop drives feature 500GB platters, and come in sizes up to 2TB; 500GB more than the current generation F2EG. The F3EG uses a SATA 3.0Gb/s interface and 16MB or 32MB buffer memory.
The F3EG uses Samsung’s EcoTriangle technology to provide environmentally-friendly components, low-power and low-noise operation technology and meets environmental regulations including RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
Other Samsung technologies incorporated into the drives include SilentSeek and NoiseGuard to achieve quiet operation.
Availability
The 3.5” Samsung EcoGreen F3EG drive is available in 1.5TB and 2TB capacities in the United States and EU markets with a starting MSRP of $179.99.
