Action cameras, such as GoPro, are becoming a huge market. And since a lot of these cameras now offer a 4K option there is a tremendous amount of data being generated with the need to capture it and then transfer it for editing. SanDisk’s new Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II comes with enough capacity to capture HD videos, either 64GB or 128GB, and transfer speeds of 275MB/s. These new speeds can dramatically reduce the amount of time spent transferring files to store and edit. The Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II comes with a USB 3.0 SD card reader and is backward compatible with UHS-I host devices.

Connected devices and the Internet of Things (IoT) are changing the way some industries look at data and how data can be mined for value. One area of connected devices that will be exploding in coming years is the automotive industry. Gartner is predicted that by 2020 80% of all new vehicles will be data connected with 30% having built-in, function-level, over-the-air software update capabilities. SanDisk’s Automotive flash storage solution is AEC-Q100 certified and aimed at giving OEMs intelligent, reliable and high-capacity data storage to a wide array of advanced, in-vehicle applications and systems, such as 3D and HD navigation and mapping systems, data event recorders, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), telematics and more.

These new automotive device will be designed specifically to meet the demands unique to their usage such as intense reliability, quality, and temperature demands. Not only that, the new SD cards will have several smart features such as enhanced power failure protection, a memory health status monitor, OEM customization capabilities, and enhancements for read-intensive applications, such as navigation. Manufacturers will also be able to monitor the health of the SD cards remotely looking for issue and recommending upgrades or replacements when needed.

USB Type-C connectors aren’t quite all the rage these days, but the future is looking kindly on them. Reversible plug orientation speaks to average consumer that has tried to plug in a device only to have to flip it over and try again, especially in the dark. SanDisk’s new Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive not only has the reversible plug orientation the average Jane or Joe would want but it comes with USB 3.1 performance of up to 150MB/s and capacity up to 128GB making power users more inclined to take a second look at it. The flash drive has a retractable design and is compatible with the SanDisk Memory Zone app for Android.
