SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Storage Announced

SanDisk has announced its new Connect line of battery-powered wireless flash memory devices which are designed to streamline the process of sharing storage across mobile and personal computer platforms. The first two products in the Connect line are the Connect Wireless Flash Drive and the Connect Wireless Media Drive which are each initially available at two capacities and are delivered in compact form factors for maximum portability. SanDisk also provides Connect mobile clients for iOS and Android, as well as a web-based interface for devices that don’t feature dedicated app support.

The first two products in the Connect line are the Connect Wireless Flash Drive and the Connect Wireless Media Drive which are each initially available at two capacities and are delivered in compact form factors for maximum portability. SanDisk also provides Connect mobile clients for iOS and Android, as well as a web-based interface for devices that don’t feature dedicated app support.

According to SanDisk, the Connect Wireless Flash Drive will be the smallest wireless USB storage device to date, featuring up to 32GB of storage. The Connect Wireless Flash Drive is specified for up to four hours of continuous media streaming without recharging its internal battery and supports connections to up to eight devices simultaneously, with streaming media for up to three clients simultaneously.

The SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive is a pocket-sized device which will be available in larger storage capacities than the Connect Wireless Flash Drive and features a larger battery rated for up to eight hours of use per charge. The drive also incorporates a SDHC/SDXC memory card slot which can be used to increase the size of the shared content or wirelessly share or access content from a camera memory card. It supports connections to up to eight devices simultaneously and can stream video to five of the clients at once.

Pricing and Availability

Connect Wireless Flash Drives and Connect Wireless Media Drives are currently available for preorder. The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive will be offered with 16GB and 32GB capacities, priced at $49.99 and $59.99 respectively. The Connect Wireless Media Drive will be available with 32GB or 64GB editions, priced at $79.99 and $99.99 respectively.
