Scale Computing & Google Cloud Collaborate On HC3 Cloud Unity

by Adam Armstrong

Scale Computing announced that it is working with Google to develop a hybrid cloud solution that makes it easy for organizations, including channel partners and MSPS, to move application workloads freely in the cloud or on-premises, HC3 Cloud Unity. HC3 Cloud Unity is a combination of Scale HC3 and Google Cloud Platform on the same LAN. HC3 Cloud Unity enables companies’ applications to use resources in the cloud and on-prem at the same time, while also enabling applications created for on-prem to now run on Google Cloud Platform.

While Cloud adoption is on the rise, there are still many barriers to the cloud being fully embraced. One of the big reasons that some companies hold back is the inability to move applications to the cloud and back to on-prem when desired. With HC3 Cloud Unity, Google and Scale Computing are attempting to build a high speed interstate highway between on-prem and the cloud.

The new solution is a combination of Scale’s HC3 hyperconverged platform, SCRIBE software-defined-storage, and new SD-WAN capabilities with Google Compute Engine. Basically, customers will have a virtual LAN acting as a bridge between the HC3 on-prem and the HC3 running in Google Cloud Platform. According to the two companies, this will allow their customers to connect to the cloud in real time from their on-premises infrastructure that combines storage, compute, and virtualization in a single solution.

Availability

HC3 Cloud Unity is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
