Seagate has announced the world’s first 3TB external desktop hard drive. The 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk drive can use a variety of interfaces thanks to interchangeable cables including USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and FireWire 800.

The GoFlex Desk external drives include an NTFS driver for Mac users.

The funny thing is, Seagate hasn’t yet formally released the 3TB desktop drive that’s inside, but regardless, this makes a new high-water line for the others to catch up to.

The 3TB GoFlex Desk external hard drive is available from Seagate and select retailers for $249.99.
