Sepaton is announcing their version 7.1 of its software for S2100-ES3 purpose-built backup appliances (PBBA) which are enterprise-class data protection platforms. Version 7.1 now includes functionality that enables administrators to backup and deduplicate data using Symantec NetBackup OpenStorage (OST) over Fibre Channel which adds to existing IP connectivity. Also updated, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) users can automate TSM virtual tape implementation processes using Gresham Enterprise DistribuTape (EDT) 10.0. Sepaton also provides encryption of data at rest and has qualified SafeNet KeySecure 6.3 EKM to further support for KMIP compliant enterprise key managers.
Regarding NetBackup OST, organizations can now backup with 1GbE, 10GbE or 8Gb Fibre Channel. This new flexibility enables organizations to leverage existing infrastructures as well as newer equipment. Backups can be accomplished using Fibre Channel or Ethernet utilizing the S2100-ES3’s advanced storage pooling capability.
Sepaton also qualified Gresham’s EDT v10 software with the S2100-ES3 with v7.1 software. Gresham software enhances TSM performance utilizing HBA load balancing, WWPN device mapping and other features. It also simplifies device management and reduces manual setup time for TSM virtual tape drive device discovery, definition and volume and labeling. Additionally, it simplifies device management. EDT also enables TSM users to gain functionality for tape devices and media to be added to TSM without disruption to its operations.
