Today SonicWall announced updates targeted at their enterprise customers. The new updates include Zero-Touch Deployment and Secure SD-WAN (software-defined WAN) designed for distributed enterprises and organizations with hybrid cloud environments. The company also announced enhancements to the Capture Security Center as well as Hyper-V, Azure and AWS support for its virtual firewall series.

SonicWall Zero-Touch Deployment allows organizations to quickly configure firewall hardware at new locations without requiring costly on-site visits from IT staff. Once hardware is brought online in remote locations, administrators can manage it through a single pane-of-glass using Capture Security Center; SonicWall’s cloud-based management and analytics SaaS platform.

SonicWall Secure SD-WAN will be provided as a service in SonicOS 6.5.3, slated for release this December. SonicOS is the operating system for SonicWall firewall and firewall appliances like the upcoming SonicWall TZ300P and TZ600P. SonicWall TZ300P and TZ600P are intended to provide power to connected PoE/PoE+ enabled devices like point-of-sale (POS) terminals. Given the similarity in names, the new appliances are probably adding power filtering support to SonicWall's existing TZ300 & TZ600 which have 5 & 10 1Gb network interfaces each.

Availability

  • SonicWall Zero-Touch Deployment is available immediately
  • Z300P Series, TZ600P will be available in December 2018.
  • SonicOS 6.5.3 with Secure SD-WAN will be available in December 2018.
