STEC ZeusIOPS SSDs Now Qualified Across the Complete NEC M-Series Disk Array Platform

by Lyle Smith

STEC has announced that its flagship enterprise-class ZeusIOPS SSDs are now qualified across the complete NEC M-Series disk array platform, including M100, M300 and M500 products. The integration of STEC’s ZeusIOPS SSDs into the next-generation NEC Storage M-Series platform supplements storage area network (SAN) applications such as enterprise virtualization, server consolidation and cloud computing all the while delivering the high-end storage reliability, high performance, ease-of-use and power-efficiencies required for mission-critical data center environments.

The ZeusIOPS SSD supports a serial attached SCSI (SAS) interface in both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factors and is available across NEC’s M-Series disk array product line. Additionally, it offers numerous of options, including a range of capacities and sustainable IOPS.

STEC’s patented SSD controller architecture is fundamental to the ZeusIOPS SSD family, providing enterprise-optimized storage devices with an exceptional combination of performance, reliability, endurance and energy efficiency. STEC’s SSD controller and associated firmware are specifically engineered for demanding environments with heavy workloads and continuous duty cycles where high-availability access to stored data is required. The controller is equipped sophisticated enabling technologies, wear leveling, over-provisioning, strong error-correcting code (ECC) algorithms, and data-path protection features creating a secure, enterprise-reliable SSD.

NEC’s M-Series disk arrays for SAN applications has a simple setup that can be completed in less than 15 minutes with its embedded GUI interface making storage management and data handling easy and user-friendly. Additionally, the M-Series includes advanced software that performs tasks such as thin provisioning and replication to enable ideal capacity distribution in a virtualized environment. Each M-Series disk array (M100, M300, and M500) contain a power-efficient processor, optimal control of the fan, massive array of idle disks (MAID) technology, and STEC SSDs to substantially reduce power consumption.
