Synology has announced the DiskStation DS1823xs+, a powerful central storage server designed for use in environments where no dedicated server rack or data center is available. Ideal for small and medium-sized businesses, the Synology DS1823xs+ provides shared data storage and sharing, endpoint and server backup, VM storage, surveillance management, and other business applications. With its built-in 10GbE (with the ability to support 25GbE), and potential 144TB in raw storage before expansion, it can easily meet the needs of most businesses.

Ideal for small and medium-sized businesses, the DS1823xs+ provides shared data storage and sharing, endpoint and server backup, VM storage, surveillance management, and other business applications. With its built-in 10GbE (with the ability to support 25GbE), and potential 144TB in raw storage before expansion, it can easily meet the needs of most businesses.
The “xs” in its product name means that it is a higher-end NAS model with more advanced features and capabilities compared to standard models. This includes faster processors, increased memory and storage capacity, and support for more advanced software and hardware features. In addition to these features, the DS1823xs+ is also a fairly scalable NAS solution.
It comes with 8GB DDR4 ECC SODIMM system memory (standard) via two total memory slots, which can be expanded to a maximum memory capacity of 32GB (16 GB x 2). Users can also expand on its built-in 8 drive bays (which support up to 144TB) to up to 18 via two DX517 expansion units. Users can also leverage 25GbE (optional) or Fibre Channel and SSD cache volumes when needed. In addition, the DS1823xs+ can back up 300 endpoints, manage 75 IP cameras, or safely sync and share files between devices and sites.
The DS1823xs+ also includes built-in data integrity protection, remote management options, and easy hardware expansion, making it dependable, easy to maintain, and cost-efficient. Data integrity is also a priority with the Btrfs file system that helps prevent data corruption or loss through metadata mirroring, file self-healing, and efficient point-in-time snapshots. In addition, ECC memory provides additional integrity safeguards against data corruption and loss through error correction and detection capabilities.
With Synology DSM, users will have a comprehensive operating system to power their NAS, which is highlighted by its intuitive, user-friendly interface that enables easy management of files, applications, and devices. DSM features built-in data backup, synchronization, and recovery capabilities, making it easy to maintain and protect important data. Moreover, it will allow businesses to manage multiple users, groups, and permissions, allowing for more efficient collaboration and better control over access to data.
The DSM package center is full of useful applications that can be easily installed and updated, allowing businesses and users to customize their Synology NAS solution to meet their specific needs. Users will be able to remotely reboot the system or view logs while the NAS is down due to its to out-of-band management.
