Today Toshiba Storage introduced a new 12Gb SAS interface enterprise HDD line, the AL13SX series. The AL13SX series is a 2.5” form factor, 12Gb SAS interface 512b native, 15,000 RPM, advanced format HDD. The AL13SX series comes in 300GB, 450GB, and 600GB capacities.
Today Toshiba Storage introduced a new 12Gb SAS interface enterprise HDD line, the AL13SX series. The AL13SX series is a 2.5” form factor, 12Gb SAS interface 512b native, 15,000 RPM, advanced format HDD. The AL13SX series comes in 300GB, 450GB, and 600GB capacities.
The 12Gb SAS interface and the 15,000 RPM rotation speed give the AL13SX series up to twice the host transfer bandwidth of older 6.0Gb SAS models. The 2.5” form factor allows for greater density and better power efficiency than a 3.5” form factor. And the AL13SX series comes in 600GB capacity with is double the capacity of previous generations while maintaining its performance.
The AL13SX series can be formatted as either 512b or 4Kn, have an average latency of 2.0ms, and provides faster seek performance compared to legacy 3.5” 600GB models. The AL13SX series advanced format models also features persistent write cache technology for improved data integrity in un-aligned write scenarios and models with self-encryption features are offered as well.
