Ubiquiti Adds Indoor and Outdoor 5G Max Modems Alongside New Dream Router 5G Max

Enterprise  ◇  Networking

Ubiquiti has expanded its cellular-ready portfolio with new 5G hardware designed to bring high-throughput wireless WAN connectivity to UniFi deployments. The lineup now includes the Dream Router 5G Max, the indoor UniFi 5G Max modem, and a newly detailed outdoor variant rated for harsh environments.

The Dream Router 5G Max (UDR-5G-Max) remains the flagship of the group. It is a desktop cloud gateway that integrates full-performance 5G connectivity with reported speeds up to 3.4 Gbps, WiFi 7, a 10G SFP+ uplink, and a four-port 2.5 GbE switch with one PoE output. Local storage is managed through an SD card slot. The system targets homes and remote sites that benefit from a cellular-first or cellular-failover topology. Ubiquiti lists availability for February 2026 with a cost of $579.

Next is the UniFi 5G Max (U5G-Max), a PoE-powered indoor modem that directly integrates into any UniFi deployment. It features dual SIM and eSIM support with seamless failover and peak throughput up to 3.4 Gbps. Carrier certification includes AT&T and T-Mobile, with Verizon expected by late December. The modem is positioned for operators who want to add resilient 5G uplinks without replacing existing gateways. It is priced at $399.

Ubiquiti also added an outdoor UniFi 5G Max (U5G-Max-Outdoor) variant, a screenless model built for external mounting and continuous exposure. This version carries IPX6 ingress protection in its default configuration and upgrades to IP67 when used with the cable-gland door kit. The ruggedized model gives UniFi an option for outbuildings, rooftops, poles, or remote installations where environmental durability is essential. Availability is listed for January 2026. At launch, the outdoor version will be priced at $459.

Together, these 5G systems expand UniFi’s WAN strategy beyond traditional wired ISPs. Operators gain faster deployment for new sites, improved redundancy in existing environments, and practical alternatives when fiber or broadband is cost-prohibitive. With multi-gig LAN ports, WiFi 7 integration, and now multi-tier 5G support, Ubiquiti continues to build a modular ecosystem for both home and business connectivity.
