Today at VMworld 2015, VMware Inc. revealed a new set of hybrid cloud capabilities for vSphere through a technology preview, Project Skyscraper. Project Skyscraper will enable customers to seamlessly extended their data center to the public cloud or extend the public cloud to their data center. Project Skyscraper enables seamless extension across boundaries with enterprise-level security and business continuity customers need.

Project Skyscraper enriches vSphere and hybrid capabilities. These new capabilities include Cross-Cloud vMotion and Content Sync between on-premises and vCloud Air. Cross-Cloud vMotion is similar to vMotion only it enables customers to migrate running VMs from on-premises to vCloud Air via the vSphere Web Client. Content Sync enables, though a single mouse click, the synchronization of VM templates, vApps, ISOs, and scripts with their content catalog in vCloud Air.

These new features will compliment the VMware vCloud Air Hybrid Cloud Manager. vCloud Air Hybrid Cloud Manager is an easy to use solution that consolidates various capabilities such as workload migration, network extension and improved hybrid management features.

VMware will be demonstrating Project Skyscraper at VMworld 2015.
