Today before the IFA Consumer Electronics Unlimited show in Berlin, WD announced the latest version of the OS for its My Cloud family, OS 3. Along with the new OS and its enhanced features, WD also announced a new Software Developer's Kit, and a new My Cloud Storage device, My Cloud Mirror, that is dual-drive and has more memory and faster processing speed than previous version.

OS 3 will feature the same intuitive user interface customers have come to expect. The new features center around photo and video capabilities with MyCloud.com and My Cloud Albums app. MyCloud.com gives users access to their My Cloud storage device wherever they are. As long as they have Internet connection they can access their files on the go. The My Cloud Albums app (available later in September) allows user to send links within their My Cloud device to friends. Another new feature is WD Sync that enables multiple computers to be synced to the My Cloud storage device, keeping files up to date on all synced devices. Along with the sync feature, users can setup automatic backups for the camera rolls on their smart devices, enabling both a backup and a quicker path of migration for the photos. Chromebooks and Chromecasts are now also supported.

WD is also enabling developers to build new extensions, features and capabilities within the My Cloud ecosystem of personal cloud storage devices with its new SDK and My Cloud API. The SDK is based off of Docker technology and will allow developers to easily access and collaborate to create customized experiences.

And finally, WD is introducing a new My Cloud storage device, My Cloud Mirror. The device has dual drives and can be setup in RAID1 configuration keeping users files protected through duplication. The new device comes with the above-mentioned features as well as 1GB of RAM for faster performance.
