Synology RackStation RS2418+/RS2418RP+ Now Available
Synology has announced the availability of their new RackStation RS2418+/RS2418RP+ 12-bay NAS solution. Designed for small- and medium-sized businesses, the new 2U, 12-bay rackmount offers scalability at an affordable TCO as it supports up to 144TB raw capacity in a single 2U chassis with the ability to expand up to 288TB via an RX1217/RX1217RP. This allows the new RackStation to easily expand as a business grows.
The RS2418+/RS2418RP+ features an Intel Atom C3538 quad-core CPU and 4GB DDR4 non-ECC UDIMM RAM, which can be expanded up to 64GB with four 16GB ECC UDIMMs. It also comes equipped with four plug-and-play Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. Users can enhance the network performance of the new RackStation by adding a 10GbE NIC using the PCIe 3.0 slot, providing over 1,400 MBps sequential throughput and 38,900 iSCSI random IOPS. Users can also populate the PCIe slot can with Synology’s M.2 SSD adapter card, which adds a substantial increase in performance through the SSD cache with applications such as database storage, multiple user file server, or video editing.
