At VMworld, Actifio today launched the PAS20T, a new addition to its Protection and Availability Storage (PAS) portfolio. PAS 20T enables the protection and recovery of up to 20TB of application data with an interface designed to simplify and consolidate vendor-specific applications for backup, snapshot, disaster recovery, business continuity, replications, deduplication, and WAN optimization.
PAS-20T is compatible with Windows applications like Microsoft Exchange, SQL and SharePoint, whether deployed on physical or virtual servers. It integrates with VMware through the vStorage API to offload copy functions like snapshotting, backup and replication.
This new solution is intended to make Actifio’s copy data management technology affordable and accessible for smaller VMware environments that face inefficiencies across point tools for backup, disaster recovery, testing and development, and analytics.
PAS 20T Key Features
Application-centric Service Level Agreement (SLA)-based management allows users to define their SLA in terms of the snapshot frequency, type of storage, and retention policy.
Heterogeneous, network-optimized replication of enterprise data allows users to move data anywhere with the smallest possible network bandwidth.
Zero backup and restore windows are required. Users mount data from the Actifio appliance into the production system to get up and running immediately.
Instant virtual copies of data are produced with no additional storage footprint.
Automatic verification of data authenticity via data hashes.
Pricing and Availability PAS-20T is available immediately in limited quantities with a starting price under $185,000. General availability will begin in the fourth quarter of 2012.
