Cloudera Anywhere Cloud Launches: One Control Plane for AI and Data Across Public, Sovereign, and On-Prem Environments

AI  ◇  Enterprise

Cloudera has introduced Cloudera Anywhere Cloud, a hybrid data and AI platform engineered to build, deploy, and scale production-grade workloads across public clouds, sovereign environments, and private on-premises infrastructure. The platform can function as a standalone deployment or integrate directly into existing enterprise data lakes. It provides a centralized control plane that delivers automated management, modular service provisioning, and uniform data governance without requiring data migration out of local storage tiers.

Architectural Overview and Workload Mobility

Cloudera Anywhere Cloud utilizes a modular, decoupled architecture that separates compute services from underlying storage infrastructure. This design allows technical teams to deploy independent analytical engines, including Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and Trino, alongside custom open-source or third-party engines via self-service marketplace blueprints. The system connects these distributed compute engines across heterogeneous infrastructure using standard APIs, Apache Iceberg open table formats, and the Polaris catalog, eliminating proprietary data formats and custom integration overhead.

Infrastructure performance bottlenecks and complex data residency mandates frequently stall enterprise AI pipelines as they transition from pilot phases to production. Cloudera cites recent research finding 73 percent of IT leaders believe infrastructure performance constraints have hindered operational initiatives. Cloudera Anywhere Cloud addresses this operational latency by facilitating localized workload placement. Applications run where business, regulatory, or hardware requirements dictate, eliminating the need to replicate or transfer large datasets across disparate environments.

Governance, Agentic Automation, and Control

The platform incorporates native zero-trust security controls across distributed storage and compute nodes. This framework maintains data lineage, access boundaries, and continuous compliance across sovereign, private, and public cloud tiers. Deployments automatically inherit existing enterprise governance policies to preserve data sovereignty and intellectual property rights.

To simplify day-to-day operations, Cloudera has integrated an agentic copilot into the control interface. The copilot translates natural language instructions into executable operational tasks, such as spinning up compute engines, configuring infrastructure resources, and orchestrating end-to-end data pipelines across connected environments.

“Enterprise AI has outgrown the public cloud-only model,” said Leo Brunnick, Chief Product Officer at Cloudera. “Organizations shouldn’t have to choose between innovation and control. Cloudera Anywhere Cloud brings the speed and flexibility of the cloud directly to enterprise data. This allows enterprises to accelerate AI initiatives while maintaining complete ownership of their data and intellectual property, all while optimizing the cost of their infrastructure, tokens, and business models.”

The launch extends Cloudera’s recent infrastructure push, including its joint AI factory stack with VAST Data. Cloudera is demonstrating Cloudera Anywhere Cloud this week at its EVOLVE event in Singapore.

GPU-Accelerated Spark via NVIDIA cuDF

Alongside the platform launch, Cloudera announced native GPU acceleration for Apache Spark 4.1 in Cloudera Data Engineering, built on NVIDIA’s cuDF CUDA-X library. The cuDF plug-in accelerates existing Spark pipelines with no changes to PySpark or SQL code, which Cloudera positions as a way to prepare AI-ready data faster while trimming cloud compute spend, and it ships in Cloudera Data Engineering as part of Anywhere Cloud.
