Micron Debuts New 1100 & 2100 SSDs With 3D NAND

by storagereview

Taking the wraps off two new SSDs, Micron introduced the 1100 SATA SSD and 2100 PCIe NVMe SSD. Both geared towards different kinds of buyers, the 1100 SATA SD will come in configurations up to 2TB, while the 2100 SSD uses the PCIe NVMe design for low latency and high performance.

Both drives make use of Micron’s 3D NAND, but the 2100’s PCIe NVMe design allows for extreme transfer rates. According to micron, it provides four times the bandwidth of standard SATA SSDs. If endurance is more your thing, the 1100 SSD’s DEVSLP feature enables a draw of less than 2mW when the drive is not in use.

Micron 1100 SATA SSD key specs and features:

  • 3D NAND design
  • 530MB/s read, 500MB/s write speeds
  • Several capacity configurations
    • 256GB
    • 512GB
    • 1TB
    • 2TB
  • Low power mode up to 98% more efficient than HDD

Micron 2100 PCIe NVMe SSD key specs and features:

  • 3D NAND design
  • PCIe NVMe form factor
  • Low latency
  • 4x bandwidth over SATA SSDs

Availability

While pricing hasn’t been set yet, Micron plans on releasing its 1100 line of SSDs in July 2016, with the 2100 following afterward in the summer of 2016.
