Today Panzura announced that its Panzura Cloud Controllers have been certified for Microsoft Azure. With its Cloud Controllers certified, users will have an end-to-end global file system Panzura controller’s on-premises and Panzura controllers running inside Azure, all using Azure Storage. This announcement follows other such announcements of Panzura working with Oracle, VMware, and AliCloud.

As Panzura states, by running its cloud controllers on Azure enables a transparent, hybrid architecture that solves application performance issues caused when data is not co-located next to the application. The in-cloud NAS that Panzura creates on Azure will integrate with the rest of the global file system in corporate datacenters. The certified cloud controllers will also remove the need for WAN Optimization and expensive MPLS networks between offices. Panzura claims that using its global file locking applications built for the LAN will work just as well on the WAN, and with its global deduplication customers can reduce their storage footprint up to 90%.

Panzura already supports Azure object storage, where the Panzura Global File System collapsed all tiers of legacy enterprise storage into Azure storage. Users can take applications that were developed for use in the data center and use it on Azure without changes by co-locating the same consistent, locking file system. Organizations can now use Azure both for multiple tiers of file storage as well as an in-cloud NAS for applications using Azure compute. Panzura goes on to claim that user data will be immediately available and consistent in both the data center and Azure. Panzura also says that applications can run natively in the cloud, in the data center, or both.

Availability

Panzura Cloud Controllers are available now in the Microsoft Azure marketplace.
