For storage, the HS-264 can house two 2.5-inch/3.5-inch SATA 6Gbps hard drives or SSDs and can be outfitted with up to 8GB of DDR4 memory (unfortunately, memory cannot be expanded beyond this). In addition, it also comes equipped with two 2.5 Gigabit (2.5G/1G/100M) ports, giving it enough potential bandwidth for high-speed backup, sharing, and streaming. It also supports up to 5Gbps under port trunking. Or potentially a little bit more as we saw in our recent TBS-464 review.

For connectivity, the HS-264 is a part of QNAP’s fanless NAS series and features two HDMI ports and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports so you can connect a range of audio/video devices or expansion units. It’s Intel AES-NI hardware-accelerated encryption also gives you peace of mind that your files are protected without having to concede system performance.

Like all QNAP solutions, the HS-264 has a wide range of multimedia applications at your disposal. For example, you can easily access, store, and manage their photos, videos, and audio files via QuMagie, Video Station, and Music Station. Moreover, the new HS-264 is compatible with Plex multimedia streaming, and you can also easily stream to Android TV, Apple TV, mobile devices, and DLNA devices. It can also be used comfortably from your chair via the QNAP RM-IR004 remote control.
