QNAP has launched the new TS-x64U NAS line featuring PCIe Gen3 expandability, 2.5GbE connectivity, and 4K HDMI output. Available in both 4 and 12-bay models, the TS-x64U supports QM2 cards (M.2 SSD caching or Edge TPU for AI image recognition) and is ideal for virtual machine use cases and smooth multimedia streaming. It’s also optimized for data storage, backup, sharing, disaster recovery, and hybrid cloud environments.
QNAP has launched the new TS-x64U NAS line featuring PCIe Gen3 expandability, 2.5GbE connectivity, and 4K HDMI output. Available in both 4 and 12-bay models, the TS-x64U supports QM2 cards (M.2 SSD caching or Edge TPU for AI image recognition) and is ideal for virtual machine use cases and smooth multimedia streaming. It’s also optimized for data storage, backup, sharing, disaster recovery, and hybrid cloud environments.
Powered by an Intel Celeron N5105/ N5095 quad-core 4-thread processor (burst up to 2.9 GHz), the TS-x64U features Intel’s AES-NI encryption engine and can be outfitted with up to 16GB of DDR4 dual-channel memory (4GB comes standard). As indicated above, the TS-x64U also comes equipped with a PCIe Gen3 slot, which allows users to add more flexibility to the QNAP NAS such as installing a 10GbE network card, a QM2 card for NVMe SSD caching or Qtier, or a Coral M.2 Accelerator for AI image recognition.
For connectivity, the TS-x64U features two 2.5GbE ports, two USB 2.0 (480Mbps), and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) ports. The QNAP NAS can scale as your data needs grow via TL and TR storage expansion enclosures.
The TS-x64U is managed by QNAP’s QTS 5.0 NAS operating system, which offers a comprehensive range of NAS home/business applications. These include:
- HBS (Hybrid Backup Sync) realizes efficient local/remote/cloud backup jobs
- Block-based snapshots make data protection and recovery easier and effectively mitigate the threats of ransomware
- HybridMount provides cloud storage gateways that integrate private and public cloud storage and enable local caching
- Virtualization Station and Container Station enables light virtualization applications
- QVR Elite helps deploy a cutting-edge smart surveillance system
- KoiMeeter provides a complete cross-platform video meeting and wireless presentation solution.
For those looking to use the TS-x64U as a home media center, QTS also supports multimedia applications (such as Plex), streaming capabilities, and has a built-in HDMI port.
The three models from the new QNAP NAS line are the TS-464U-4G (1U, 4x 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drive bays, 4 GB DDR4 memory), TS-464U-RP-4G (1U, 4x 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drive bays, 4 GB DDR4 memory, redundant power supplies) and TS-1264U-RP-4G (2U, 12x 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drive bays, 4 GB DDR4 memory, redundant power supplies).
