Data is continuing to grow and customers not only have to find a method storing and protecting their data, they also need a way to efficiently manage their data and access it when needed. The data not only should be stored in a tiered fashion, where the hot data is easily accessible and the cold data is securely stored away, it has to be done in a cost-effective manner. Quantum and Dot Hill have partnered to address these concerns.

Dot Hill has a broad range of enterprise-class storage arrays, of few of which we’ve reviewed, with 99.999% availability. Dot Hill hybrid arrays use RealStor software that has real-time, automatic teiring that moves the hottest data to the appropriate tier. Dot Hill has several ultra dense arrays such as the AssuredSAN Ultra48 and its hybrid version, as well as the even denser AssuredSAN Ultra56 that pack in a lot of performance in a small footprint. And Dot Hill just recently announced its new AssuredSAN 6000 series with RealStream technology aimed at vertical market customers.

Added Dot Hill’s disk products into Quantum’s portfolio will further extended Quantum’s leadership in data lifecycle management. Quantum already uses some Dot Hill storage in its Quantum's StorNext QXS disk systems. As Quantum build on its leadership into vertical market customers, it will leverage the new technology from Dot Hill to help it meet the specialized needs of the new customers. It will be able to offer existing customers a broader range of data protection as well, with the Dot Hill arrays including teiring data within and across primary storage, backup and archive.

Dot Hill will be able to take advantage of Quantum’s worldwide network of resellers. Through Quantum Alliance program, Dot Hill can extend the reach of its products.
