Founded in 2001 by Steve Cochran, STEALTHbits Technologies’s primary focus in on data security. The company ensures that the correct people are able to access the data they need. Their other focus is to make sure those with malicious intentions are blocked from accessing data that they shouldn’t. STEALTHbits helps companies evaluate security risks and fulfill regulatory compliance all while helping to reducing operations expense.

NAS and Windows file systems house countless numbers of files, many containing sensitive information, that if not managed properly can expose organizations to unnecessary security and compliance risk.  Due to limitations and issues with native logging facilities primarily regarding performance and complexity, most organizations have little or no insight into file access activity.  STEALTHbits “stand-alone” File Activity Monitor acts as a cost-effective solution to this age-old issue.

According to STEALTHbits, its File Activity Monitor is simple to install and use and allows companies to monitor file activity without the reliance on native logging (which can cause performance issues). Users will be able to search generated activity logs to seek out answers to simple questions reporting to alternative technologies like SIEM. Not only can files be searched, but the File Activity Monitor can feed file activity in real-time for even more advanced analytics, correlation, and reporting. STEALTHbits solution is designed to work on Windows File Servers and NAS devices (NetApp, EMC, Hitachi).

Benefits include:

  • The ability to collect all or specific file activity for specific values or specific combinations of values
  • A clean, simple UI to view the results of the queries executed against the data
  • The ability to feed file activity data to alternative technologies like SIEM and/or export data in formats that are easy to understand and work with
