Supermicro is claiming to be the first in the industry to hit the market with a 1U NEBS Level 3 certified server. This server is designed for 5G, edge, AI, VR, and AR use cases. Designed for the edge, the Supermicro 1U NEBS Server comes with either redundant AC or DC Power Supply (1+1) options and has nine (9) 4cm fans to provide a robust cooling system that supports the extended temperature range. For storage, the system has two external 2.5” hot-swap bays (SAS/SATA) and two internal 2.5” bays. And as stated, users can equip the server with up to four NIVIDA V100 or V100S GPUs. The server supports 2nd gen Intel Xeon Scalable SPUs and Intel Optane persistent memory to help the NVIDIA GPUs hit their full potential.

As the market shifts from 4G to 5G, the NEBS (Network Equipment Building System) Level 3 certification has become more important as the new applications will be much more complex and demanding. Supermicro’s system is ready for the edge with extending the operating temperature to 55 °C and meets the shock and vibration, flame resistance, and other stringent testing to complete the GR-1089 and GR-63 suite of tests required for full NEBS Level 3 compliance. The NVIDIA GPUs, Optane, and latest generation of Intel Xeon Scalable processors will all help to maximize the newest edge applications.

The Supermicro 1U NEBS Server has joined the rest of the company’s 5G lineup of products and solutions that are being highlighted this week at the BIG 5G Event September 22-24.
