Today Synology America Corp. announced that it is releasing two new high-availability server solutions, the RC18015xs+ and RXD1215sas. These new server solutions feature massive scalability, great performance, and point-in-time data backup for enterprises. Synology’s award-winning OS, DiskStation Manager, powers the new solutions.

The new solutions are designed to work together as a high-availability cluster (users need two RC18015xs+ and one RXD1215sas expansion unit). As a cluster these solutions offer quite a few features.

Features include:

  • High-availability cluster design: By combining two computing servers and multiple storage units into a single high-availability cluster, RC18015xs+ and RXD1215sas deliver unyielding reliability and data availability. With the active/passive structure, services are automatically switched over to one server if the other unexpectedly goes offline.
  • Massive scalability up to 180 drives/1PB with RXD1215sas: Up to 15 RXD1215sas can be connected to the dual RC18015xs+ computing nodes, accommodating massive scalability up to 180 drives and maximum raw storage beyond 1PB.
  • Snapshot technology brings point-in-time data recovery: RC18015xs+ brings snapshot technology, allowing businesses to automatically capture point-in-time copies of data as frequently as every five minutes without occupying system resources. Admin can also customize the retention policy to save up to 256 hourly, daily, or weekly recovery points.
  • Next generation storage efficiency: By using the Btrfs file system; the RC18015xs+ brings quota control for: shared folders, user accounts, and a built-in data integrity check.

The cluster also offers superior performance with Synology claiming performance of more than 2,270 MB/s throughput; 355,400 IOPS. The new solutions come with 8GB ECC RAM (upgradeable up to 32GB) and one PCI Express 3.0 with 8 slots for the installation of a 10GbE network interface card. They are backed with a 5-year warranty and Synology Replacement Services.
