WD My Book Pro Now Available

Consumer  ◇  Desktop Storage (External)

WD has announced the availability of the My Book Pro storage device, which is designed to offer pro users an efficient way to manage large amounts of digital content with up to 435MB/s transfer rates. Capacity options include 6TB, 8TB, 10TB and 12TB models.

Offered as a significant upgrade to their previous storage devices such as the My Book Duo, it comes equipped with two 7200 RPM WD drives, dual 20 Gb/s Thunderbolt 2 ports, and a hot-swappable hardware RAID controller, which gives content creators the performance and capacity they need. Additionally, it comes equipped with USB 3.0 compatibility, hardware RAID, and the two 7200 RPM WD drives to accelerate creative workflows. Additionally, with its two front USB 3.0 ports and its ability to daisy chain up to six Thunderbolt devices, users can charge and sync smartphones, tablets, or cameras all the while simultaneously connecting 4K monitors or additional storage devices.

The My Book Pro can be configured into three RAID options [RAID 0 (default), RAID 1 and JBOD], allowing its users to keep their content protected. It also reduces data bottlenecks and improves throughput; all with no impact to a computer's CPU performance.
