NetApp Announces Integrated EVO: RAIL Solution

Today NetApp Inc. announced a new hyper-converged infrastructure solution powered by VMware EVO: RAIL and NetApp Data ONTAP operating system, the NetApp Integrated EVO: RAIL Solution. The new solution is aimed at enterprises and midmarket organizations, including remote and branch office environments with limited IT resources. This is the latest partnership with VMware and their EVO: RAIL. Others include the HP ConvergedSystem 200-HC EVO: RAIL, Supermicro’s VMware EVO: RAIL, and Dell's software-defined storage solutions for VMware EVO: RAIL.

As with other EVO: RAIL solutions, customers will see a dramatically simplified delivery and deployment of software-defined infrastructure in a rapid and repeatable manner, as well as simplifying configuration, on-going management, patching, and upgrading of software (with zero-downtime and automatic discovery of any new appliance added). Along with the simplification of deployment and management, EVO: RAIL will allow customers to reducing operating expenses by fast time-to-value resulting in VMs in minutes, automatic scale out of EVO: RAIL appliances, and simple VM lifecycle management.

The NetApp Integrated EVO: RAIL Solution includes flash-accelerated, scale-out NetApp enterprise storage. Both branch and departmental sites now have an enterprise-proven infrastructure platform (integrating enterprise data center and public clouds) for business critical applications in virtualized environments. Even if an organization has limited IT resources, it can quickly deploy an easy-to-use solution with unified management. By integrated NetApp ONTAP the new solution will deliver best-in-class storage management and provisioning with multiple paths for integrating with the hybrid public cloud.

The NetApp Integrated EVO: RAIL Solution can reduce risks by:

  • Offering proven storage efficiencies and independent storage expansion
  • Integrated data protection and data mobility
  • Nondisruptive operations
  • Increased stability

The NetApp Integrated EVO: RAIL Solution will be available in the first half of 2015.
