HPE launches Morpheus VM Essentials, cuts virtualization costs, and expands private cloud services to simplify hybrid IT and cloud management.
HPE is modernizing the private cloud experience for enterprises, unveiling new solutions and services aimed at modernizing hybrid IT with a focus on cost efficiency, performance, and operational simplicity. The latest announcements center on the general availability of HPE Morpheus Software, new cost-saving options for HPE Private Cloud Business Edition, and expanded services to streamline virtualization modernization.
HPE Private Cloud Business Edition Adds Morpheus VM Essentials
HPE Private Cloud Business Edition now features HPE Morpheus VM Essentials, designed to dramatically reduce virtual machine (VM) licensing costs by more than 10X while supporting multiple hypervisors and enabling self-service cloud consumption. These savings build on the 2.5X lower total cost of ownership (TCO) delivered by HPE’s disaggregated hyperconverged infrastructure (dHCI).
The Business Edition, available as either dHCI or HCI, gives organizations the flexibility to select the optimal architecture for their VM workloads, whether at the edge or in the data center. VM Essentials manages both HPE and traditional VMs, allowing customers to mix and match to suit changing business needs. The solution is designed for global deployment and is backed by comprehensive enterprise services, ensuring support from infrastructure to workload.
With AIOps capabilities that can predict and prevent up to 86% of operational issues before their impact, HPE’s AI-driven approach automates infrastructure setup and lifecycle management. This improves performance and dependability while also freeing up IT resources.
Aeropuertos Argentina provides a clear example of the value of Business Edition. According to Roberto Valenta, the corporate technology and operations IT manager, the platform “has paid for itself” through savings on support contracts, as-a-service consumption, data center space, and energy efficiency. It now supports essential functions like flight tracking and airport operations, allowing faster and more reliable travel services.
HPE Morpheus Software Delivers Unified Cloud Management for Modern Enterprises
The HPE Morpheus Software family is now available, featuring two options: HPE Morpheus VM Essentials for virtualized workloads and HPE Morpheus Enterprise Software for unified cloud management. Both are licensed per socket to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) and include HPE’s HVM hypervisor. VM Essentials customers can easily upgrade to the full Morpheus Enterprise suite as their needs grow.
HPE Morpheus Enterprise Software is designed for larger enterprises and service providers, offering a unified interface to manage and govern virtualized, container-based, and third-party runtimes across bare metal, on-premises, and public cloud infrastructure. The platform automates application provisioning, enabling up to 150X faster app deployment across virtually any hypervisor or cloud, and delivers up to 30% lower cloud costs through analytics-powered rightsizing.
Morpheus Enterprise and VM Essentials are hardware-agnostic, supporting HPE’s portfolio and third-party hardware. The software is available with HPE ProLiant Compute Gen11 and Gen12 servers. Significantly, the new ProLiant Gen12 servers allow customers to consolidate workloads, achieve up to 27% savings on virtualization software, 65% lower annual power consumption, and a 7:1 reduction in data center footprint.
For customers seeking even greater efficiency, the combination of VM Essentials and HPE Aruba CX 10000 delivers up to 48% lower TCO, up to 10X performance gains, and advanced features such as microsegmentation, DPU acceleration, and enhanced security. VM Essentials also offers granular storage management for HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000.
Ecosystem and Services: Simplifying Virtualization Modernization
HPE is also expanding its ecosystem and services to support customers on their virtualization modernization journey. Commvault, a leader in cyber resilience and data protection, will be the first VM Essentials ecosystem partner to support image-based VM backup and recovery, with a release expected in May.
HPE Cloud Platform Services – Virtualization Modernization simplifies transitions with dedicated assessments, landing zones, and services for re-platforming workloads, modernizing infrastructure, and migrating data. HPE aims to reduce operational overhead and accelerate time-to-value for customers of all sizes.
