HPE Strengthens Alletra B10000 with New SLAs and Cyber Resiliency Guarantees

by Harold Fritts

HPE adds new cyber, uptime, and energy guarantees to the Alletra B10000 and launches StoreOnce models tailored for ROBOs and SMBs.

HPE is enhancing its storage portfolio with new guarantees for HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 and new entry-level HPE StoreOnce backup and recovery appliances. These updates are designed to strengthen cyber resilience, optimize energy efficiency, and simplify data protection for customers, from remote offices to enterprise data centers.

HPE Alletra B10000: New Guarantees for Future-Ready Storage

HPE is introducing a set of new service-level agreements (SLAs) and guarantees for the Alletra Storage MP B10000, building on the existing HPE Storage Future-Ready Program. These guarantees aim to give customers greater confidence in their IT infrastructure, particularly in the face of evolving cyber threats and sustainability concerns.

Jim O’Dorisio, Senior Vice President and GM for Storage at HPE, highlighted that modern enterprises need intelligent and agile storage solutions. HPE offers a future-ready solution that leverages AIOps and disaggregated storage, allowing customers to adapt their hybrid cloud data strategies to meet evolving business demands.

The new guarantees include:

  • Zero Data Loss and Downtime Guarantee: This feature uses high-availability synchronous replication, or active peer persistence, to eliminate recovery time and ensure continuous data availability. This is crucial for organizations such as financial institutions and healthcare providers needing constant uptime.
  • Cyber Resiliency Guarantee: Ensures access to recoverable immutable snapshots and urgent access to outage recovery experts within 30 minutes or less of a reported ransomware incident. This rapid response capability is crucial for mitigating the impact of ransomware attacks and ensuring business continuity.
  • Energy Consumption Guarantee: This guarantee ensures storage operates at an optimal power level for peak performance and that energy consumption stays below a set threshold. It is particularly relevant for organizations looking to reduce their carbon footprint and lower operational expenses.

These new guarantees join the existing benefits available to B10000 customers as part of the HPE Storage Future-Ready Program, which already includes:

  • 100 Percent Data Availability: Ensuring consistent access to data.
  • StoreMore Data Efficiency Guarantee: Providing at least 4:1 cost savings through data reduction technologies.
  • Free, Non-Disruptive Controller Refresh: Offering a controller refresh for 30 percent lower TCO.

The Alletra B10000 is HPE’s high-end disaggregated, scale-out block storage solution. It is designed for mission-critical workloads that require high performance, low latency, and enterprise-grade data services. Compared to previous HPE high-end storage arrays like the Primera, the Alletra B10000 offers a more flexible and scalable architecture and tighter integration with HPE’s cloud management platform, GreenLake.

New HPE StoreOnce Appliances Simplify Data Protection for ROBOs and SMBs

HPE is also expanding its StoreOnce backup and recovery appliance portfolio with new entry-level models designed for remote offices, branch offices (ROBOs), and small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The new HPE StoreOnce 3720 and 3760 models offer a range of features tailored to the needs of smaller deployments, including:

  • Scalability: Seamlessly scale from 18TB to 216TB of local usable capacity (up to 648TB with optional cloud storage).
  • Performance: Deliver 20:1 typical data reduction and backup speeds of up to 25TB per hour.
  • Security: Protect data from cyber threats with multi-factor authentication, encryption, and immutability.

These new StoreOnce appliances are designed to be 67 percent denser for constrained spaces and use 29 percent less power, making them ideal for edge deployments where space and energy efficiency are critical. They are also optimized with leading backup software, providing a comprehensive data protection solution.

The StoreOnce 3720 and 3760 models are positioned as entry-level options within the StoreOnce family, offering a more affordable and streamlined solution for smaller organizations than the larger, more feature-rich StoreOnce systems designed for enterprise data centers.
