Lenovo’s data management portfolio, including the DM Series storage solutions, is available through Lenovo TruScale Infrastructure Services.

Lenovo TruScale works for large enterprises to small businesses with data center solutions and services for on-premise or at the edge – all without purchasing equipment. TruScale can be applied to any configuration to meet customer needs – whether storage-rich, server-heavy, hyper-converged, or high-performance compute – and scales as business dictates.

With this portfolio update announcement, Lenovo Data Center Group highlights the new advanced hybrid cloud data management capability with the new Lenovo ThinkSystem DM Series Storage Manager OS. Also, Lenovo updates ThinkSystem Intelligent Monitoring 2.0 for cloud-based management with improved analytics and predictive AI guidance. Additionally, Lenovo introduces an affordable ThinkSystem DM5100F All-Flash Storage Array with end-to-end NVMe support. Lenovo says this system delivers 45% improved performance for customers of all sizes, compared to the prior model.

This solution is the new advanced hybrid cloud data management capability with the new Lenovo ThinkSystem DM Series Storage Manager OS. The Lenovo DM Series storage systems now include further S3 Object support, creating a next-generation unified data management platform. This platform allows customers to manage and analyze all data types (block, file, and object) within a single storage platform, accelerating data analytics processing while reducing infrastructure costs.

These enhancements create expanded data protection capabilities, with transparent failover and management of object storage natively. Additionally, with Lenovo DM Series storage, customers can add cold-data tiering from hard drives to the cloud or replicate data to the cloud. This option enables an economic multi-cloud strategy for storage, reducing the overall cost of data management.

The new Lenovo ThinkSystem DM5100F is designed to bring high-performance, low-latency all-NVMe storage at an affordable price point. It delivers 45% improved performance and enables customers of all sizes to enhance analytics and AI deployments while accelerating applications’ access to data.

How it Works: Lenovo Storage Cloud Tiering

ThinkSystem Intelligent Monitoring 2.0

This intelligent monitoring solution is enhanced for cloud-based management with improved analytics and predictive AI guidance while mitigating data management costs. The solution uses AI to simplify and automate the care and optimization of Lenovo’s ThinkSystem storage environment. Lenovo customers can monitor and manage storage capacity and performance for multiple locations from a single cloud-based interface, predict issues before they happen, and receive prescriptive guidance.

To further accelerate customers’ applications, Lenovo announced the newLenovo DB720S Fibre Channel Switch. This switch provides 32Gbps and 64Gbps storage networking, delivering higher speed and 50 percent lower latency than previous generations, Lenovo says. The DB720S offers autonomous SAN infrastructure with self-learning, self-optimizing, and self-healing capabilities, leading to reduced downtime and simplified storage network management.

Analytics and AI Solutions to Entry and Mid-Sized Organizations

Lenovo is also focused on partnering and enabling this value for businesses of all sizes. Lenovo recently collaborated with NetApp and NVIDIA to publish a Reference Architecture for an AI training system. The architecture combines ThinkSystem SR670 servers with NVIDIA GPUs and ThinkSystem DM5000F All-Flash storage to help take the guesswork out of optimizing an AI platform.
