It’s impressive to see them adding another 2TB to their largest enterprise drives a little over a year after they released their 16TB models. It’s even more impressive since they just added M.2 form-factor SSDs a few months ago. Curiously, Seagate released their consumer 18TB drives two weeks ahead of today’s release of their enterprise models this time around. The Exos X18 18TB hard drive is being released with the curiously precise manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of $561.75.

The Exos X18 is the fifth-generation high capacity helium 3.5-inch 7200 RPM nearline enterprise drive from Seagate. So far, each new Exos X generation has boasted two extra terabytes of storage over the previous model and an advertised MTBF of 2.5M hours. Models are available with either SATA or SAS interfaces. Consumers can also choose between 512e and 4KN formatting of the HDDs. Like other Exos X drives, the X18 includes built-in data protection through Seagate Secure technology.
