NetApp, VMware, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced the general availability of VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC) integration with Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP (FSxN). This announcement also highlights FSxN as the first and only third-party certified and supported supplemental datastore for VMC.

In a joint announcement this morning, NetApp and VMware indicated they will be expanding the companies’ longstanding global alliance. They will target three major customer-driven initiatives aimed at helping customers reduce the cost, risk, and complexity of migrating enterprise-class workloads to a multi-cloud environment.

VMware and Ethereum? What do those two technologies have in common? VMware has now added Ethereum to its VMware blockchain platform which allows companies to run networks and applications.

Intel has introduced the Intel Data Center GPU Flex Series (formally code-named Arctic Sound-M), designed to meet the requirements for intelligent visual cloud workloads. Initially announced in May, the Flex Series GPU is a single graphics processing solution built to handle a wide range of workloads without compromising performance or quality.

VMworld has been renamed VMware Explore this year. I, along with Kevin and Tom are excited that we will be able to attend in person!  VMware Explore 2022 will be held inside the newly revamped Moscone Center in San Francisco from August 29 to September 1.

StorPool Storage v20 adds new capabilities including NVMe/TCP, StorPool on AWS support, and NFS File Storage. The StorPool Storage platform is designed for large-scale cloud infrastructures running workloads that require low latency and is highly reliable.

Dell’s latest software release for PowerFlex is now available, taking these SDS systems to Dell PowerFlex 4.0. The updates were teased at DTW earlier this year, highlighted by new lifecycle management options and deployment through NVMe/TCP.  For a little more background, we did an introduction to PowerFlex when it was rebranded in 2020.

Pliops announced that it closed an additional $100 million Series D funding round bringing the total investment in the company to over $200 million since starting in 2017. Pliops provides data processors for cloud and enterprise data centers and recently released the Pliops Extreme Data Processor (XDP).
