Scality and OVHcloud have expanded their technology partnership with a joint storage platform aimed at organizations requiring sovereign infrastructure for AI and mission-critical data. The combined solution is designed to keep sensitive data under customer control while supporting high-performance AI workloads without relying on U.S. hyperscale cloud providers.
The offering is available as either a dedicated sovereign cloud deployment or an on-premises implementation using the OVHcloud On-Prem Cloud Platform (OPCP). It also supports backup replication across multiple availability zones to improve resilience and disaster recovery.
The announcement targets two primary enterprise requirements: meeting increasingly strict data sovereignty and regulatory compliance mandates while providing private infrastructure capable of supporting AI training, inference, and modern data pipelines.
Sovereign Object Storage for Regulated Environments
The platform combines Scality’s RING and ARTESCA object storage software with the OVHcloud OPCP platform. Scality provides S3-compatible object storage designed for large-scale deployments, while OPCP adds cloud-native orchestration, deployment automation, and managed services capabilities on customer-owned infrastructure.
The solution is intended for organizations operating in highly regulated industries including healthcare, financial services, defense, and the public sector. It addresses compliance requirements associated with regulations such as GDPR, DORA, NIS2, and HIPAA by allowing data to remain within customer-controlled environments.
For organizations requiring off-site protection, the partnership also extends to dedicated storage deployed on OVHcloud Bare Metal infrastructure through the HGR-STOR platform. This configuration provides private S3-compatible storage for backup targets while integrating with established data protection platforms including Veeam and Commvault.
Unlike shared cloud infrastructure, the HGR-STOR offering uses dedicated servers, providing predictable performance, physical isolation, and support for business continuity planning through controlled failover to OVHcloud infrastructure during site outages.
Optimized for AI Workloads
The joint platform is also positioned for enterprise AI deployments where latency, throughput, and data confidentiality are critical. Rather than transferring sensitive datasets to public cloud infrastructure, organizations can process AI workloads where the data already resides.
Scality’s object storage supports GPU Direct compatibility and is optimized for AI data pipelines, allowing integration with OPCP-managed on-premises infrastructure. The combined platform supports AI model training, inference, and MLOps workflows while maintaining regulatory compliance and keeping sensitive datasets under customer control.
Scality said the partnership enables organizations to expand AI initiatives without sacrificing data sovereignty. OVHcloud noted that combining its private cloud platform with Scality’s storage technology provides enterprises with infrastructure designed for both regulated environments and AI-driven workloads.
The joint solution was first introduced during VivaTech, held in Paris from June 17 through June 20.
